John Shenton
John Shenton is a Tax Director and head of Taxation Advisory Services in the Jersey office. He qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor in 1991 and joined Grant Thornton in 2009. Prior to joining Grant Thornton John headed up the Jersey tax practice of a Big Four accountancy firm.
John is extensively involved in advising all of the firm's clients, personal, corporate and trust, on both Jersey related and international tax issues from an offshore perspective.
John has wide-ranging expertise in advising on the establishment and administration of complex structures for high net worth clients looking to create comprehensive tax planning for their personal and business assets.
He is a regular speaker at conferences on offshore tax issues and has presented and written numerous technical training sessions on the fundamental changes to the Jersey corporate and personal tax systems.
John is the Chairman of the local branch of the Chartered Institute of Taxation; a member of STEP; sits on the Tax sub-committee of the Jersey Institute of Directors; as well as being a member of the Fiscal Strategy Group of Jersey Finance Limited that assists the States of Jersey formulate future taxation policy.
